Wiki/Exploration & Zones/Mob Tier Filtering

Mob Tier Filtering

Each zone contains mobs across multiple tiers. Which tiers are available depends on how much of the zone you have explored.

Tier Unlocks by Exploration

Mobs are assigned to exploration tiers within each zone. Higher tiers unlock as your zone exploration percentage increases.

1Outskirts0% exploration
2Interior25% exploration
3Depths50% exploration
4Apex75% exploration

Tracking Mode

Mob family tracking unlocks once you have at least one kill from a family in the current zone. Families whose minimum tier is above your highest unlocked tier cannot be tracked yet.

selectedTier while tracking = highestUnlockedTier

Tracking ignores the manual tier picker and always uses the highest tier you have unlocked in that zone.

trackedFamilyWeight = baseFamilyWeight × 4
nonTrackedFamilyWeight = baseFamilyWeight × 0.35

If the tracked family has no eligible members at your highest unlocked tier, the server drops tracking for that run and falls back to normal family weighting.

Newest Tier Weight Multiplier

When multiple tiers are unlocked, mobs in the highest unlocked tier have their encounter weight multiplied by 2x, making them more likely to appear. This encourages exploration of newly unlocked content.

Tier Bleedthrough

When a tier is selected for combat (e.g., in encounter sites), the actual tier of mobs encountered may bleed into adjacent tiers. This adds variety while keeping the encounter roughly on-level.

If the bleedthrough roll targets a tier below the zone minimum, the selected tier is used instead. If it targets above the zone maximum, the highest available tier is used.
